Utility Assistance
Michigan Veterans Trust Fund may provide a limited amount of financial assistance for emergency needs (eviction, mortgage foreclosure, utility shut offs, etc). Must be a veteran, the spouse of a deceased veteran or the dependent child of a veteran. Veteran must have served at least 180 days of war time service and have been honorably discharged. Other resources must be unavailable or insufficient to meet the total need.
Veteran Relief Fund (Soldiers’ and Sailor’s Relief Commission) may be able to assist with emergent needs. To be eligible, you must be a resident of Michigan and Macomb County for at least six (6) months; discharged under honorable conditions; have served one (1) day of active duty during eligible wartime service (see above) or twenty-four (24) months active duty during peacetime.
Macomb County also offers veterans financial coaching. Financial coaching is a process to help people link their behavior to their goals and values. Coaching is a way of working together in an equal partnership rather than an expert giving advice or issuing directives. For more information, see the program website.
