Habitat for Humanity of Oakland County (Habitat Oakland) has supported over 1,700 individuals and families since 1995 by building and preserving affordable housing. The organization raises funds locally and engages donors, volunteers, and homeowners to create safe and stable living environments.
Programs & Services:
- Homeownership Program: Assists families in moving from substandard housing into affordable, energy-efficient homes.
- Veteran Housing Initiative: Supports veterans and military families through housing, repairs, financial counseling, and construction training.
- Critical Home Repairs – Roofs, Ramps, and Repairs: Provides essential repairs to improve safety, accessibility, and code compliance for low-income homeowners.
- Rock the Block: Neighborhood revitalization through block clean-up, yard maintenance, and community improvements.
- Habitat University – Financial Coaching: Offers one-on-one financial counseling, credit improvement, and homebuyer readiness education within 6–12 months.
- Helping Neighbors Program: Free home energy assessments and energy-saving products for qualifying families, in partnership with Consumers Energy.
- Oakland County Repairs Program (Pontiac): Provides grants for minor home repairs (currently closed, pending reopening).
