Senior Center
The Monroe Center promotes healthy aging and independent living through programs supporting mind, body, and spirit. Membership is $20/year for adults 55+ ($25 for those under 55 or outside Monroe County). Services and activities include exercise classes, chair yoga, volunteer opportunities, legal and support services, internet access, and discounted events. The Center also offers breakfast and lunch, open to the public.
Resource Advocacy
This service through Monroe County Opportunity Program is provided right at the center every other Tuesday from 9:00 am to noon. Please call to make an appointment at 734-241-0404. This service can find or solve the following: Home Chores, Personal Care, Heating Credits, Medicare Part D, Transportation, Housing Options
Comfort and Connection – Sunshine Connection
The Sunshine Connection provides comfort and support through volunteer visits, phone calls, and cards for individuals who are ill, bereaved, or in need of extra social contact. Volunteers are also welcome to join the group.
Medicare & Benefits Plan Assistance
Certified MMAP volunteers and a Resource Advocate from the Monroe County Opportunity Program are available by appointment to help individuals choose the best plan. To schedule, call 734-241-0404. Early booking is recommended during open enrollment.
Legal Services
Monroe County Senior Legal Services provides assistance to adults age 60+ with legal and related issues on the second and fourth Wednesday mornings. Appointments are required and can be scheduled by calling 734-241-0404. A $20 initial consultation fee applies.
