With dangerously high temperatures expected across Southeast Michigan this week, residents are encouraged to take precautions to stay safe and cool. Cooling centers are available throughout the region for individuals who need relief from the heat, including older adults, people with disabilities, and those without access to air conditioning.

Extreme heat can pose serious health risks, especially for older adults and people with chronic health conditions. Spending time in an air-conditioned location can help prevent heat-related illnesses such as heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
