Celebrating National Social Work Month: Honoring the Heart of Our Mission

March is National Social Work Month — a time to recognize and celebrate the dedicated professionals who help people navigate some of life’s most complex moments.

At AgeWays Nonprofit Senior Services, social workers play a key role throughout the agency. They walk  alongside older adults, people with disabilities and their families as they face difficult decisions, unexpected health changes, and the emotional weight of caregiving. They listen, advocate, problem-solve, assess needs, coordinate care, explain options clearly, and help families create realistic plans that preserve dignity and independence.

Advocacy in Action

Social work is not only about direct service — it’s also about advocacy.

Our team works to ensure older adults have access to nutrition, transportation, in-home services, and long-term care options. They help clients understand complex systems, navigate public benefits, and overcome barriers that might otherwise prevent them from receiving help.

They advocate for equity, accessibility, and respect — values that are central to AgeWays’ mission.

The Quiet Impact

Much of social work happens behind the scenes: late follow-up calls, coordination with providers, documentation, crisis response, and careful planning.

But the impact is visible in the outcomes:

These moments matter. And they are made possible by the skill, empathy, and persistence of our social workers.

Thank You

To every social worker at AgeWays — and to social workers everywhere — thank you for your dedication, resilience, and unwavering commitment to the people you serve.

Your work strengthens individuals, families, and entire communities.

This month, and every month, we are grateful for you.
