Achieve Your Health Goals with Eat Smart, Move More, Weigh Less

Eat Smart, Move More, Weigh Less is a free, 15-week, evidence-based virtual program designed to help older adults improve their health through mindful eating, weight management, and physical activity. Led by a registered dietitian nutritionist, this program is perfect for those looking to develop healthier habits and gain the tools to live a more active and mindful lifestyle.

Participants can join from anywhere in the southeast Michigan six-county region (Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, St. Clair, and Washtenaw), and chooses the class time that works best for their schedule. Lunchtime, late afternoon, and evening classes to accommodate various time zones and work schedules are available.

The program focuses on sustainable lifestyle changes and includes practical strategies for adopting healthier eating and exercise behaviors. Weekly interactive sessions feature a 3- to 5-minute physical activity break, guided discussions, and opportunities for participants to share and celebrate their progress. Core topics covered each week include:

“The program can help participants learn ways to live a healthier lifestyle and make changes to improve their overall health and reduce the risk for developing heart disease and diabetes. It can also be beneficial to help manage chronic conditions. Many completers of the program have reported positive changes to their A1C readings and others were able to reduce their blood pressure from concerning readings to normal,” says Jeannine Roach, MSA, manager of Health Promotion at AgeWays.
