Guiding You Through Long-Term Care Options
Figuring out what kind of care is available for you or a loved one can be confusing and often overwhelming. You might spend hours on the phone or online trying to understand what is available. Are programs out there that can help? Are you eligible? What are the costs?
A new person-centered long-term care options counseling program offered by AgeWays Nonprofit Senior Services and agencies throughout Michigan aims to make it easier, friendlier, and far more effective to locate services and resources that can help with your long-term care needs.
Free and Unbiased Help with Long-Term Care Options
Funded by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, MI Options counseling is free of charge. It is geared to adults 60 and older, adults with disabilities, and family caregivers. There are no financial eligibility requirements to use the service.
“Our goal is to ensure people feel supported and informed when navigating long-term care decisions,” says Liliya Engelke, a MI Options counselor at AgeWays. “We understand that the amount of information available can feel overwhelming, so we focus on providing clear resources and a plan tailored to your individual needs and preferences. Our hope is that this approach helps reduce stress while supporting your sense of choice, control, and independence.”
Confidential Help and Follow up Support
MI Options includes a confidential session with a knowledgeable and unbiased counselor who will partner with you to understand your unique situation and explore the options that fit your needs. After you develop an action plan, that counselor will follow up regularly to help you stay on track to meet your goals.
Counselors get continual training to stay on top of the programs and resources available in your region.
