Senior Center
Romeo, Washington, Bruce Parks & Recreation offers many kinds of programs to all ages. For seniors they host medicare counseling, a mobile Secretary of State, Veterans Affairs claims navigation, senior legal advice, and small repair work. Service availability changes throughout the year. Contact the agency for more information.

Transportation

  • Senior Transportation through Advanced Reservations (STAR) provides medical and shopping transportation in Romeo, Bruce, and Washington Townships and within a five-mile radius. Service available Monday-Friday, 8:30-4. Provides curb to curb service. Van equipped with a wheelchair lift.
  • Must be age 60 or older, or handicapped and a resident of Romeo school district or Bruce or Washington Townships.

Tax Preparation

  • AARP volunteers provide assistance with income and property taxes from January-April.
  • Must be age 55 or older.

Friendly Callers

  • Staff and volunteers make daily calls to check on seniors and provide social contact.
  • Must be age 50 or older, and a resident of Romeo, Bruce or Washington Townships.

Assistive Equipment Loan

  • Equipment available usually includes walkers, wheelchairs, and canes. No maximum borrow time.
  • Must be age 50 or older or physically challenged and a resident of Romeo, Washington or Bruce Townships.

Legal Counseling

  • A lawyer is available for consultation on the second Monday of each month 10-11 AM at 361 Morton and on the third Wednesday of each month 1-2 PM at 57880 Van Dyke.
