A division of the Michigan Advocacy Program, LSSCM provides free legal advice and representation to low-income individuals, families and older adults.

Provides legal services in such areas as public benefits, housing, family law, consumer law, long term care, power of attorney, elder abuse, financial exploitation and other civil legal cases. Does not handle criminal or traffic cases. Will represent people in certain legal cases, refer to private attorneys and refer low income clients to attorneys who will accept reduced fee. Will make home visits to bedbound older adults.

Washtenaw County: Must be age 60 or older and a resident of Washtenaw County.

Livingston County: Must be age 60 or older and a resident of Livingston County. Income must fall below 200% of poverty guidelines, except in cases of foreclosure and elder law.
