On Tuesday June 2, 2015 hundreds of older adult advocates from across the state will converge on the east lawn of the Michigan Capitol Building in Lansing to meet with their legislators and share their opinions, ideas and concerns regarding aging issues in Michigan.
“This is an exciting and energizing day for older adults and aging advocates,” said Tina Abbate Marzolf, CEO of the Area Agency on Aging 1-B. “It’s a chance to meet face to face with decision makers and speak out on concerns and issues impacting older adults.”
The theme this year for Older Michiganians Day (OMD) is, “A Voice for Michigan’s Aging,” and advocacy will focus on issues such as the

elimination of service wait lists, home accessibility, the expansion of the Program for the All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE), elder abuse aware- ness and prevention, transportation issues, and caregiver support.
New this year will be a statewide webinar and conference call, scheduled to take place on Wednesday May 27, 2015 from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm to help prepare attendees with advocacy tips and to provide an overview of the OMD Platform. In addition, all advocates from Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, St. Clair and Washtenaw Counties will be eligible for a free t-shirt.
